Reunion this Fall- Calling all Lathrop Homes alumni!

Do you know someone who used to live at the Lathrop Homes? Across Chicago–and across the country–Lathrop residents from the 1940s through the 1990s are connecting with old friends and neighbors in person, by phone and on Facebook.
The conversations started last year when a group of alumni of the Lathrop (Cotter) Boys & Girls Club decided to organize a reunion for former club members. Since almost everyone who grew up at Lathrop belonged to the Boys and Girls Club at some point, the project quickly became a reunion for the whole Lathrop neighborhood.
The main event, Lathrop LIVES, will take place on October 17 at the White Eagle banquet hall in Niles. The event will include time to meet old friends over cocktails, a family style dinner and dancing.
“The name ‘Lathrop LIVES’ illustrates the tenacity and spirit of the former and current residents of Lathrop,” says Betty Howard, one of the organizers of the event.  “It’s a fitting theme for our celebration.”
Tickets are on sale at the Cotter Boys & Girls Club, 2915 N. Leavitt, during club hours. For more information, contact Cyndi Quiñones at (773) 348-1866, extension 4602 or to order tickets by mail, e-mail Betty Howard at
LSNA has worked with Lathrop Homes residents for nearly 25 years on industrial retention, school improvement and affordable housing.  For the past five years, LSNA has worked closely with residents to advance a vision for preserving Lathrop as a diverse, affordable community.
