Please Help Bring Pastor Nieves Back to Chicago

Our friends at Humboldt Park UMC, an LSNA member organization - urgently need our financial help for a medical emergency.

Their pastor, Ramon Nieves, was severely injured Friday afternoon in Guatemala City where he was on a volunteer mission trip with his wife Yolanda Nieves.  He is currently in critical condition on a ventilator and in an induced coma after losing consciousness and being underwater for an extended period of time.

His family needs to raise $30,000 very quickly to pay for his transportation on a medical flight back to the united States for specialized care as soon as possible. He is currently in critical condition on a ventilator in an induced coma.

Donations can be:

  • transferred by wire or account transfer to Humboldt Park UMC, Account #561542984, at Liberty Bank for Savings, 2392 N. Milwaukee, Chicago IL 60647.  The phone number is 773-384-4000.
  • mailed or dropped off to Humboldt Park United Methodist Church, 2120 N. Mozart Avenue, Chicago IL 60647.  Checks should be made out to "Humboldt Park UMC with a note in the memo line "Pastor Nieves Medical Emergency."

Delia Ramirez, a leader at Humboldt Park UMC and past president of the Logan Square Neighborhood Association, is coordinating these efforts and may be reached at  773--490-4302 or at for more information.
