In a time of turmoil and distress over the immigration issue, the voices of the people directly affected are often drowned in hateful rhetoric. Such words will not fix our broken immigration system, a system that is tearing families apart and ruining lives. Community education on the issue is now certainly the order of the day. To this end Logan Square Neighborhood Association’s Committee for Immigration Reform is privileged to present the much sought-after film Immigrant Nation!: The Battle for the Dream
Immigrant Nation!: The Battle for the Dream is a documentary film about the modern immigrant rights movement. In particular, it is the story of the struggle of Elvira Arellano, a single mother from Chicago, who fought her deportation. The film also interweaves the stories of individuals, organizations, activists and community leaders united by passion and a concern for justice. This film illustrates the opposition to the controversial HR4437 immigration bill as well as the ongoing struggle and demand for comprehensive immigration reform.
