Elastic Arts and ChicagoMusic.org present the next concert of “Intersections: Jazz- Its Roots and Shoots- from Afro-Latin to Avant-Garde.  Featured arethe Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble and Musicians from the AACM. The performance will take place at the Logan Square Monument on Friday, July 27th from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

Jazz- Its Roots and Shoots will feature AACM musicians who perform across genres including R&B, Blues, and other danceable music.  The second set features CALJE playing Afro-Latin jazz showcasing familiar Latin dance beats. The performance will take place on a traveling stage called the Culture Coach as part of its Chicago residency in Logan Square and Humboldt Park.

AACM musicians and friends include Hanah Jon Taylor, saxophones, flute and wind synthesizer; Dushun Mosley, percussion; Koco Brunson, keyboard; Cecile Savage, bass; and Saalik Ziyad, vocals.

CALJE musicians include Victor Garcia, trumpet; Rocky Year, saxophone; Victor Gonzalez Jr., congas; Juan Pastor, drums; and Josh Ramos, bass.

The performance is partly underwritten by the Jazz Audiences Initiative (JAI) a program of Jazz Arts Group, Columbus, Ohio.  Elastic Arts is one of six organizations from across the U.S. to receive funding to experiment with innovative ways to bring jazz to new audience members.  The Culture Coach is a project of Kuumba Renaissance, Madison, Wisconsin and has been underwritten by SCORTO 1 NFP.
