The Green Exchange Community Jobs Initiative will host a
Networking Event with Green Exchange employers on Thursday evening
(Feb. 9), from 6 to 8 pm, in the Green Exchange itself, at 2545 W.
Diversey.
It's an opportunity for job seekers to meet employers face-to-face and
learn about a variety of job openings (see below*). It's also a great
chance for local residents to take a tour of the old Cooper lamp
factory in its renovated form.
The event, which will feature a light supper buffet and Goose Island
beer, will take place in 'Greenhouse Loft,' a Green Exchange tenant
that provides a venue for weddings and other events. Aldermen Joe
Moreno (1st) and Scott Waguespack (32nd) are co-sponsoring the event,
as is Baum Development.
Free off-street parking is available at Diversey & Maplewood (just
east of the Green Exchange) and Diversey & Rockwell (just west, near
the Kennedy). Also, both sides of Diversey offer free on-street
parking as of 6 pm. The 76-Diversey bus stops right in front, and the
49-Western and 52-California buses stop nearby.
There is no charge for this event. To RSVP, please e-mail Tami Love
at tami@worklocal.org or call her at (773) 549-2525. You can also
find us on Facebook ("Networking Event") or follow us on Twitter at
@worklocaljobs.
The Community Jobs Initiative is a project of the Local Economic and
Employment Development (LEED) Council and the Logan Square
Neighborhood Association (LSNA) and is funded by the City of Chicago's
Department of Housing & Economic Development. The initiative targets
job seekers from six communities -- Logan Square, Avondale, the
Lathrop Homes, West Town, Humboldt Park and Hermosa -- but any City of
Chicago resident is welcome to participate. Find more information,
and register online, at www.worklocal.org.
