Haas Park Expansion

Strategy 2.1:

As an Early Action Project for the New Communities Program, LISC made a $25,000 matching grant to the Trust for Public Land to cover carrying costs on the Worldwide Distributor Building.

They also made a $25,000 forgiveable loan.

This seed money gave the Haas Park Advisory Council and the Logan Square Parks Alliance the leverage it needed to get a commitment from the Chicago Park District to buy the building and expand Haas Park to more than double its current size.

Status

The Chicago Park District demolished the Worldwide Distributor Building in spring 2006 and successfully installed a brand new playground for area children to enjoy.

The second half of the expansion will be completed in the near future.
