Armitage School to School Housing Initiative

Strategies 1.3 and 4.1:

Bickerdike Redevelopment Corporation and LSNA are partnering to develop commercial and residential space on Armitage Avenue on several lots between Funston and Chase Elementary Schools.

With a LISC grant, LSNA was able to hire Macondo Corp Architects to develop initial site plans.

These plans have received the support from the local aldermen (Rey Colón and Billy Ocasio) and the Chicago Departments of Housing and of Planning and Development.

Status:

Bickerdike has received a $1 million loan from LISC to move forward with site acquisition.

Recently, Bickerdike was able to close on several lots; one key site is located on the corner of St. Louis and Armitage.

This initiative is well underway and hopefully groundbreaking will occur in 2008 or early 2009.
