Christopher House opens new family resource center in Logan Square
O
n Monday, Oct. 15, Christopher House had a ribbon-cutting ceremony to announce the opening of their brand new Logan Square Family Resource Center at 3255 W. Altgeld (the site of the old Logan Square Library)! The facility will service children ages 2 to 12 years and their families and is currently enrolling new participants. Services available at the center will include Early Childhood Development Services, After School Programming, Adult Education Classes including GED and English as a Second Language, individual & family counseling and Family Support Services that includes a food pantry.
Christopher House was able to consolidate and expand their programming, which had formerly taken place in two church spaces in Logan Square. The organization won the right to redevelop the Logan Square Library through a competitive process led by the City of Chicago’s Department of Planning and Development. The Logan Square New Communities Program, funded through the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, was proud to support Christopher House by providing a capacity grant to develop capital campaign materials to fund the renovation of the old library. “Christopher House is helping to fulfill the goals of our community plan by expanding educational opportunities for very young children and their families,” said LSNA President Delia Ramirez.
The Family Resource Center will be offering ongoing open houses and tours of the facility for interested families.
