Youth Create Visions of New Bloomingdale Trail
Twelve Logan Square youth have won prizes for their designs showing their visions of the future Bloomingdale Trail. A panel of judges, which included Ald. Rey Colón, Ald. Manny Flores, Phil Jones from the Haas Park Advisory Council, Dawn Marie Galtieri, Executive Director of the Arts Alliance, and Jeannine Tiesch from the Logan Square Library, reviewed 170 entries and chose the top three designs from 4 different age groups. Prizes were donated by local businesses.

LSNA has been working with the Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail to get the unused, elevated train line running along Bloomingdale Street (1900 N.) converted into a linear park and greenway.
"There are 11 schools within a quarter mile of the trail, with three right on it. For them, the Bloomingdale Trail will provide safe routes to school, easy access to parks, and a car-less oasis to walk, bike and explore with their family and friends,” said Ben Helphand, co-founder of the Friends of the Bloomingdale Trail.
